What you say to me is confidential.
As a qualified counsellor I must engage in regular supervision which means I discuss aspects of my casework with an experienced independent supervisor, this is to ensure I am working ethically and within my competence. However, there are some things which I must pass on to others, e.g. if you tell me: about an act of terrorism or any knowledge of terrorist activity; about any child (person under 18 years of age) or vulnerable adult that may be at risk of harm or has been harmed; you are likely to represent as a danger to others. Also, I may wish to inform someone if you give me reason to believe that you intend to seriously harm yourself. If I believe it is necessary to break confidentiality I will always attempt to gain your consent first.
